MEET YOUR Town Commission
I have resided full time in Town since 2004 and have owned property in Town since 1983. The Fiers family moved to West Palm Beach in 1912. My father graduated from old Palm Beach high school and returned to Palm Beach Shores in 1970, after living and working in the Northland for fifty years. My grandfather was Mayor of Lake Park in the mid-1940s. Family members have owned property in Town continuously since 1950. I served four years on the Town Planning and Zoning Board and six years on the Town Commission, from 2008 to 2014.
I was born in Newark, Ohio in 1939, attended The Ohio State University and played football under coach Woody Hayes. After graduation in 1961, Woody asked me to stay on as an assistant coach. I began working full time while still a student; I also married my wife of 49 years while still in school. Many Town Residents will remember Hazel. She passed away in 2008 and her memorial service was held at the family home at 236 Inlet Way.
I served three years on active duty with the Marine Corps, as an infantry platoon commander, company executive officer, and Company Commander. I was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in connection with action in the Dominican Republic and was promoted to Lt. Col. in the Marine reserve prior to resigning.
Upon discharge, I attended graduate school at Indiana University where I earned an MS in Education. Instead of coaching, I entered on duty with the CIA was trained and served for 22 years as a Clandestine Services Operations officer, with tours of duty in Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. From 1984 to 88 I served as Chief of the Central America Task Force. During my Agency career, I was awarded the Intelligence Medal of Merit, a Meritorious Officer award and the Distinguished Officer Wards.
After retiring from the Agency, I worked with W.R. Grace as Director of Government Relations,
3 years and President/General Mangers of a machinery-manufacturing unit of Grace. I retired to Palm Beach Shores in 2003. I am currently married to Grazyna.

I have been a resident of Palm Beach County since 1967. We moved part-time from Loxahatchee to Palm Beach Shores 7 years ago. We immediately fell in love with the Town and made it our permanent residence three (3) years ago. In 2015 I retired from one of the largest Non-Profits in Palm Beach County. I was employed as the Technology Director. After retiring, I started a part-time technology consulting business and waited on my wife to retire. We are both officially retired now.
Before I/T, I had a successful small auto repair business, Loxahatchee Autowerks. I was also an instructor at New England Tech for a couple of semesters. I am a factory-trained VW, Porsche, and Audi technician as well as an ASE Master Technician, Hence the classics in our driveway. I am also an experienced welder and fabricator.
Before becoming an auto technician, I worked for Southern Bell as an operator and was eventually promoted to the business office.
During school, I worked summers building custom homes, where I learned all of my construction skills. My hobbies include SCCA Road Racing, Scuba Diving, Sailing, and tinkering with my classic autos.
