Duncan Young

Duncan was born in Oceanside, New York and he came to South Florida when he was six months old after his father retired from show business.   When he was 20 years old, he began his law enforcement career as a reserve officer for the City of Fort Lauderdale. 

He joined the Air Force at age 22 and worked as an Intelligence Analyst and Law Enforcement Specialist.   

After his enlistment ended, Duncan worked for the North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department as a police officer and firefighter.   Duncan returned to South Florida in 1987 and was hired by the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department in Miami-Dade County.  He progressed through the ranks and was promoted to Sergeant in 1990, Assistant Chief in 2002 and was Chief of Police from 2007 to 2013. 

He attended the FBI National Academy in 2006 and has a BA in Criminal Justice from the Union Institute and University.  He brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience to our Town. 

 

Steven Langevin

Steve was born at West Point Military Academy and grew up in Saddle Brook New Jersey.  While growing up there, Steve became an EMT with the town’s Volunteer EMS squad until he moved to Florida.  Upon coming to Florida, Steve was a member of the Riviera Beach Police Department.  He then was accepted into the United Nations Security and Safety service in Manhattan.  After a few years of the New York City life, Steve moved back to Florida and became a member of our towns’ Police Force, where he worked his way through the ranks to his present position. 

Steve has been with the Town for 17 years.  In addition to regular police functions,  he coordinates the Youth Council for the Mayor and its volunteers, along with other community policing projects.  Steve is married and has one daughter.

Michael Simmons

Sgt. Michael Simmons is a native floridian born in West Palm Beach and grew up in Jupiter. He is a family-man and avid fisherman. If you don't see him around Town you'll most likely find him out on the boat. After graduating high school, Sgt. Simmons spent 5 years serving his country in the Army Military Police. Afterwards he spent 3 years at the Breakers in security and then was hired by Palm Beach Shores. He began his career here in July 1999 as a part-time officer and moved to full-time in December of 1999. Sgt. Simmons has been awarded the Life Saving Medal on two occasions and is a certified Crime Prevention Practitioner.
