John Workman is a lifelong resident of Singer Island, and a fourteen year resident of the Town of Palm Beach Shores. John has many wonderful childhood memories of Singer Island -- countless hours of fun spent enjoying the beach, weekly lunches with family at the Sailfish Marina, and fishing on the inlet.

John's late grandfather, Cosby Crews, served as mayor for the City of South Bay, a small Florida community on the south end of Lake Okeechobee. Mayor Crews (aka Papa) was John’s inspiration to delve into the political world. By the time John had campaigned and been elected as class president and later as president of his high school student body, he was hooked. At the age of 19, John became the youngest candidate for elected office in Palm Beach County when he ran for commissioner for the Town of Palm Beach Shores. During that race, there were five candidates running for two commission seats. John enjoyed the thrills of a door-to-door campaign and received prime time news coverage because of his young age, but in the end, he was not able to secure enough votes.

During John's college days at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and for a year following graduation, he proudly served his country working for the United States Secret Service assisting with financial crimes investigations and advances for the President and Vice President of the United States. In 2001, John accepted an offer to return to Palm Beach Atlantic University to serve as the assistant director of development where he was involved with the cultivation and solicitation of major donor prospects; served as project leader for a major grantee, The Retirement Research Foundation, which included hosting feasibility studies that specified the eldercare needs of Palm Beach County; and served as an official liaison to local, state and federal governments. In 2004, John's high school, Jupiter Christian School, suffered extensive damage to its campus as a result of Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. Shortly thereafter, John accepted an offer to serve his alma mater as an administrator and director of development. In this role, John oversees the school's $25 million capital campaign, focused on the rebuilding of the destroyed education center and campus-wide redevelopment. In addition to this responsibility, John oversees government relations, media relations, and community relations on behalf of the school.

At the age of 26, John ran a second time for a seat on the Town Commission of Palm Beach Shores. This time, he successfully defeated two sitting incumbents, receiving 45% of the vote in a three-way race. John served as vice mayor from 2007 until 2008. In March of 2009, John became the fourteenth mayor for the Town, providing leadership and oversight for the Town’s day-to-day operations.

John has served on the boards of the Singer Island Civic Association and the Palm Beach Republican Club. He has also served as a member of the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee, and as chairman for a number of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' federal grant review panels in Washington, DC. John is a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Palm Beach Gardens.
